Since this is the season of big resolutions, we want to start your Healthy Habits Plan with something small, simple, and surprisingly powerful: hydration.

After the holidays, it’s common to feel a little sluggish, snacky, or foggy. Sometimes, it’s not just the cookies—it’s dehydration.

Even mild dehydration can:

  • Make you feel more tired (hello, afternoon crash)
  • Masquerade as hunger and lead to extra snacking
  • Make movement and workouts feel harder than they need to

To kick off your year, try these two tiny habits:

1. Start your day with a glass of water
Before coffee, tea, or breakfast, drink a full glass. It’s like a gentle “good morning” for your body.

2. Upgrade one drink a day

We finally found a way to calm all that noise by focusing on just 4 core pillars. No perfection, just steady progress:

1. Food
Not a “perfect” diet—just better choices, more often. Think: adding a veggie, including some protein, drinking water before reaching for a snack. Small shifts add up.

2. Movement
You don’t need a gym membership to move your body. Walking the dog, stretching while the coffee brews, dancing in the kitchen—it all counts. The goal is “move more, sit less,” not “train for a marathon.”

3. Sleep
A basic bedtime window, fewer late-night scroll sessions, and a simple wind-down routine (even 10 minutes) can make your whole day feel different.

4. Stress

Our Sunrider story (and how it can benefit you)…


In my last email, I shared that you’ll be hearing from me a bit more often. Today, I want to tell you why SunHealthAZ exists in the first place.

For years, I was “tired all the time.” I lived on strong coffee, big meals, and sheer willpower. My energy spiked, then crashed. Even though I tried to stay in “reasonable” shape, my weight and energy were always a struggle.

Then my wife, Sel, and I opened a health food store. We were surrounded by good products and healthy people… but my energy still wasn’t where I wanted it to be.

One day, a customer came in looking for a special tea and shake from a company called Sunrider. To help him, I ordered some—and decided to try them myself.

Over the next few weeks, I noticed real changes from using the Sunrider whole foods and herbal drinks every day. My energy felt steadier. I was calmer, sleeping better, and waking up ready to go. Friends and customers started asking, “What are you doing differently?”

The honest answer was simple:

I switched what I was eating and drinking.
